Brookes students celebrate opening of local pergola

Last summer, Ilona Hay, lecturer at Oxford Brookes’ School of Architecture, met with Colin Sharp, Chairman of Lenthall Road Allotments in Rosehill at the local allotments in Rosehill. Also in attendance at the event were other allotment members and students from Oxford Brookes.

The event was arranged as a celebration for the opening of the student designed and built pergola project. It marked the completion of the 2013-14 session. Projects for Autumn 2014 are currently being designed and built, and will be on sites across Brookes and Oxford at the end of October.

Ilona is Module Leader for year 2 Architecture Technology and is involved in numerous Live Projects with students within the School of Architecture.

Speaking about the event Colin Sharp commented, “The students did a fantastic job designing and building [our]… pergola cum bench: it graces our wildlife area and allows those who use it a grandstand view of the allotment and the view beyond.”
