CENDEP gets new visiting scholar from ALNAP
Paul Knox Clarke, Head of Communications and Research at the Active Learning Network for Accountability and Performance (ALNAP), is joining CENDEP as a visiting scholar, where he will be based for two days a week leading seminars about ALNAP's work in the centre's upcoming leadership course.
ALNAP, which stands for Active Learning Network for Accountability and Performance, is a learning network that supports the humanitarian sector to improve performance through learning, peer-to-peer sharing and research. David Sanderson, Director of CENDEP, states "we see Paul's presence as a great opportunity for a number of reasons: firstly as a practice-oriented centre, the link with ALNAP cements this ethos. Having Paul ‘on the premises’ allows our postgraduates to drop in on him to interact and discuss current issues. Finally, we hope it is helpful to ALNAP to share the practice-oriented learning and research we undertake."
About the collaboration, Paul said "I'm delighted by this opportunity to collaborate more closely with CENDEP. The centre is an engaging and dynamic member of the network and has contributed significantly – particularly on natural disasters. Academic members, such as CENDEP, are of great importance to a network which focuses on learning and evidence as a way to improving humanitarian performance. I am really looking forward to working more closely with the CENDEP faculty and students."
