International project launch on "Mainstream sustainable social housing in India"

The Low Carbon Building group launched the international UNEP (United Nation Environment Programme) funded research project on 'Mainstreaming sustainable social housing in India' on 3 and 4 October in New Delhi (India).

The project launch conference was attended by delegates from the Ministry of housing, developers, financial institutions, academics and architects. The project is led by Rajat Gupta, Director of the Oxford Institute for Sustainable Development, Oxford Brookes University, and is worth USD 180,000 over 2 years. Project partners include TERI, Development Alternatives and UN-Habitat.

The Low Carbon Building group is one of the eight research groups under the Oxford Institute of Sustainable Development – a multi-disciplinary research institute of the School of Architecture in the Faculty of Technology, Design and Environment. The group is run by 12 academics and researchers with ongoing projects worth nearly £5 million.
